On September 28th 2014, BITians came out in large numbers to participate in the GREEN WALKATHON. Conducted by the BIT Green club, about 1200 students, staff, faculty and citizens of Mangalore city participated in this walk that started at Nehru Maidan and culminated at Mangala Stadium. The motivating idea behind the Green Walkathon was to make people aware of the concept of love and respect for nature. Senior politicians Mr. Moideen Bawa and Mr. J.R. Lobo actively lent their support by being present on the occasion. Showing their support to the cause, leading industry houses like Airtel, Coco Cola and City Gold supported the Green walkathon. The popular news channel DaijiWorld was the exclusive media partner to BIT in this event. This is the third successive year that BIT Green club has conducted this event as a part of the all-India celebrations of the Green Week conducted by the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC).
