Vana Mahotsava, a festival of tree plantation was organized at BIT-BEADS under the banner of ‘Leave My Mark’ on 1st August 2018, in an earnest attempt to lend a green touch to the institutional environment and sensitize the students about their role in conserving it. The campaign run by students also included Guest of Honour, Mr Jeeth Milan Roche, Mr Daniel Tauro and Mr Ravi Kumar, Dy. Range Forest Officer. “Trees are the kindest things we grow”, this has been rightly said as the needs of all the living beings are fulfilled by them. The program began with the invocation of the Almighty. The presidential remarks were made by the Chairman of Bearys Group, Mr. Syed Mohamed Beary; in his remarks, he stressed on forming a personal connection between the students and trees through a process of experience and reflection. The Principal of BEADS, Prof: Ashok LP Mendonca, delivered the inaugural address. The Principal of BIT, Dr. Antony A.J, spoke about the social responsibility of the students towards safeguarding trees and forests. He also cautioned against the effect of depleting the number of trees. The inaugural program came to an end with the National Anthem. Then about 350 plants are being planted in each staff and students name of BIT & BEADS, in association with the Karnataka Forest Department. The program was anchored by Environment and Ecology Club represented by Ms. Afra. The program was attended by 1st Year Students, Faculty and Heads of Departments.
